St Petersburg is one of the largest cities in Europe and the second largest city in Russia. If you are ever lucky enough to visit this truly fantastic city there is a treasure trove of historic sites to visit including Palace Square the largest square in Europe and home to the world famous Hermitage museum and the winter palace.
There are many guided walking tours of St Petersburg for tourists that will usually take you to the major attractions in the city, these tours usually have a personal local guide that speaks English and will give you a full walking tour experience of the city with lots of commentary about the cities history.
You could also try one of the many St Petersburg bicycle tours that are very easy to maneuver and very easy on the legs, most tours on bikes are about 12klm in distance, that may seem rather a lot to you, but you need to remember St Petersburg is a totally flat city , so much so that you can even stay in one gear during the whole bicycle tour if you want.
